THE SUMMER LUNCH - A CHARITY FUNDRAISER
Every year The Summer Lunch supports a fantastic local cause.
This year we have chosen to raise much needed funds for two charities focusing on young people’s mental wellbeing.
Brave Mind – let’s kick off the conversation.
Brave Mind is a registered UK charity dedicated to and passionate about improving the mental health of people in and connected to the rugby community. We are about getting into action, working with rugby clubs, universities and schools to put mental health at the heart of their community.
No5 - supporting young people to take charge of their mental health.
No5 Young People provides free, confidential, longer-term mental health support, counselling and outreach for 11-25 year olds across the RG postcode area.
Counselling takes place in Central Reading, in 6 local schools, online and over the phone depending on each young person’s preference.
Each year they support 900 young people through counselling, and a further 3,000 through preventative and alternative support such as mental health workshops, digital content, creative expressive wellbeing programmes, and support for school transitions and to reduce the risk of school exclusion.
Demand for their service has never been higher – over 1,000 young people and their families asked them for help in 2023 and there are currently over 900 young people waiting in need of help.
